Year of the Shift

In her compelling vision speech, Ayanna Pressley, Massachusetts’ first Black congresswoman, brings attention to the concrete ceiling that has been created for women of color candidates. She then presents the idea of integrating a seismic shift as a means of eliminating this disparity. As I sat in awe of her message, I began to think about the seismic shifts that have taken place in my life this year. There have definitely been too many to count! And while many of these shifts involved a great degree of apprehension, fear, and anxiety these same emotions also served as a catalyst to increase my commitment to my purpose. I now understand that my shifts in life have come from my internal desire to do more and become more.

Because when your life begins to shift, so do you…mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. You become immensely resilient and begin to understand that life is an experience of your own creation. This type of value forces you to examine who you are and what you desire for your own life. Shifting is ultimately a major component of the purpose process and requires you to stretch your capacity! Every shift that occurs is an invitation to take advantage of a new life experience. Read on to find out why you should always celebrate your shifts!

  1. You are conquering your comfort zone! This represents an opportunity for you to learn more about who you are, your desires, and how to evolve! Outside your comfort zone, you are challenged!
  2. Planting your feet despite change reveals your strength and helps you grow! Change hinders complacency. Without change, there’d be no improvements.
  3. Opportunities and experiences will surface when you shift your focus! Living in the moment will force you to be more diligent in the way you analyze your life.

So, the next time your life shifts, set in motion the opportunities that are going to change the course of your life. These same breakthroughs are key to your progression! Counteract the chaos in your life with commitment and confidence. Your shift is ultimately a gift!!
