A topic was recently proposed for our monthly women’s networking event and it has left me wondering if I am truly comfortable in my own skin? As a woman, do I unconsciously feel less powerful if I am the only female in a boardroom of eight males? Do I sit in the car while my son goes into the barbershop because I am a girl and the “boys” might feel uncomfortable with me imposing on their territory? What actually separates me from my male counterparts in a work or social environment?
This article on Huffington Post sheds light onto a question that I hadn’t given much thought until now. I do hope that the discussion during our women’s gathering leads to clarity and a better sense of who we are as individuals and as a unit.
